Extracting I-Lighter Information the Old Fashioned Way

A scenario I see repeated throughout the web goes something like this: Someone tells someone else about i-Lighter version 2.1 and its Twitterlights capability. Then that person says something like, "Looks like a cool service," or "This could come in handy, thanks for sharing," or "I like this," but then nothing more. No follow-up. Nothing else about how Twitterlights worked well for them or whether they've since become a Twitterlightsaholic. Nada.

As if that was all the time the person had to invest in an endorsement.

Like I said yesterday, we are hearing a lot of positive feedback through personal contacts, and yes, I did note the high esteem bestowed on our application throughout the Internet. It's just that I hunger, actually yearn for more embellishment.

I-Lighter and Twitterlights Review Circuit

In and around the blogosphere, i-Lighter has garnered much favorable press. Even before the launch of 2.1, tech bloggers held i-Lighter in highly favorable regard.

Not a fan of Wizlite, a similar content gathering application? Try i-Lighter, suggests Josh Catone of ReadWriteWeb.

Way cool tool to "highlight, grab, and save text and graphics from virtually any Web site and store it for future use," writes Sageetha at New Information for WWW.

Starting the Conversation About I-Lighter and Twitterlights

Twitterlights To the uninitiated, Twitter may seem like much ado about nothing. I have a very close friend who teaches computer science to a local private school and when I tried to explain the marvel of Twitter, she looked at me like I had sprouted two heads. Even after a step-by-step tutorial, my friend smiled, shrugged her shoulders, and walked away unconvinced of Twitter's value as a social media powerhouse.

Fortunately, i-Lighter's founder and President, Marcy Hoffman, recognized the awesome power of Twitter early on, creating an innovative integrated feature within i-Lighter version 2.1 known as Twitterlights. As quoted from a press release by mobilitysite.com, Marcy explains,

“Twitter has emerged as a cutting-edge service used by journalists, celebrities, professionals and even U.S. presidential candidates to instantly communicate with their readers and constituents. Twitterlights expands Twitter’s content options from texting alone to a whole new world of Web-based material. It’s also the first in a series of enhancements that will extend the power of i-Lighter.”

Home Remedies for Beating Influenza

March is peak flu season. Each year, more than a quarter million Americans are hospitalized with influenza symptoms, and approximately 36,000 die from flu related complications. Clearly, influenza and its symptoms are not to be taken lightly.

Those most at risk for complications -- the very young, the elderly, pregnant women, and people suffering from heart disease, diabetes, asthma, and other lung diseases -- are strongly urged to get vaccinated as early in the season as possible. The vaccine may leave some soreness around the injection site, but rarely results in more serious complications. Additional precautions such as frequent hand washing, avoiding sick people, and keeping hands away from eyes, nose and mouth can help prevent the spread of infection.

What to do if you get sick? Don't panic. It may not be the flu. Symptoms such as fever, cramps, chills, headache, cough, sore throat, runny nose, lethargy, diarrhea, and vomiting can mimic those of other viruses. The only way to know for certain is to get checked out by a doctor. A doctor can also prescribe antiviral drugs which, if administered within the first two days of onset, can lessen the severity of symptoms.

Controversial Daylight Saving Time

Were you one of the unfortunate people who showed up an hour late for all of your appointments today? When you finally became aware of Daylight Saving Time, did you silently curse the intrusive adjustment to your inner and outer clocks?

For those who believe Daylight Saving Time came way too early this year, I'm with you. In 2005, some Washington bureaucrat convinced the President that everyone would be better off with three extra weeks of this fictional shift in human synchronization. Hence, this year's March 9th launch and so many missed Sunday brunches.

Personally, I find the whole process too confusing and cumbersome to enter everyone's collective conscious at the same time. Fall back. Spring forward. If we lose an hour, then why aren't we adjusting to regular time? That seems logical, right? Moving forward into real time?
